Your Guide to a Weekend on the Upper Delaware River

Bayshore + Beyond

Upper Delaware River

I maybe a beach bum but I must admit the mountains always call me. Are you looking for a relaxing weekend away in the woods along the Delaware River? Well I got the place + itinerary for you.

Whether you’re looking for a family getaway, trip with friends or a girls trip, read on for my list of the places to stay along the Delaware, as well as the best places to eat, things to do + more as well as recommendations from a local.

Where to stay in the Upper Delaware River Valley

Nestled up on a hill in Milanville, PA you will find Pond and Perch, a stunning AirBNB with all the amenities you need + everything that nature has to offer for a perfect getaway in the mountains.

The property is on 26 acres of cornfields with a private pond, trails + a short 5 minute walk you will be on the "beach" along the Delaware River. It is equipped with kayaks, tubes, chairs + everything else you may need to enjoy the water. There are bikes, games, fire pit, + nature bingo, which my daughter loved. The home is beautifully decorated, with three bedrooms and two baths, a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs + two living rooms to snuggle up to watch TV. I would highly recommend this property for families with kids, a group of friends or couples wanting to getaway from the hustle + bustle. (Use code BAYSHORE in your message when booking to get 15% off your daily rate.)

You can spend your whole stay on the property but you shouldn't because there is so much to explore just a short drive away. The property is located on the boarder of upstate New York specifically Sullivan County area of the Catskills. Here are some spots + towns we checked out during our stay.

Where to Explore in the Upper Delaware River

Narrowsburg, NY

The town of Narrowsburg, part of Sullivan County in the Western Catskills, is a short drive away with a Main Street that is a block long with a few stores, coffee shop, bar + restaurants with a few new spots opening up. It is a cute Catskills town to walk with beautiful views of the Delaware River. There is a killer pizza spot - see more below. It is a very small town that can be explored in less than an hour so tack it on to something you already are planning like tubing on the Delaware.

Callicoon, NY

Another town to explore minutes away with a slightly bigger Main Street is Callicoon located in Sullivan County of the Catskills. Callicoon has cool stores to shops, restaurants, plenty of thrifting, Catskills Provisions Distillery + a spot with the best roast beef sandwich I ever had - more below. Callicoon is bigger than Narrowsburg + you can definitely spend a fun afternoon there exploring the shops, grabbing food + stopping to enjoy a drink.

A half hour away you will find the town of Honesdale, PA. A quirky town in the Poconos area of Pennsylvania with a large Main Street to walk, stores to browse, art to enjoy + places to eat. Hot tip: don't leave without a dollar cone from the ice cream spot.
