Have you heard of the Philadelphia Flower Show? Has it been on your list to check out? Take this as a sign to buy that ticket!
As a self proclaimed plant lady + garden geek, I cannot believe that last year was my first year attending the Philadelphia Flower Show. So happy I did - I even made the news! Here is all you need to know about the 2025 Philadelphia Flower Show.
What + where is the Philadelphia Flower Show?
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Philadelphia Flower Show is an annual celebration of beauty, joy, and all things gardening! Started in 1829, the Flower Show is both the nation's largest and the world’s longest-running horticultural event, featuring stunning displays, education demonstrations, large market to shop + interactive family friendly activities. The Flower Show is held at the Philadelphia Convention Center from March 1, 2025 - March 9, 2025. Buy tickets here.
Tip: I would recommend attending the Flower Show during the week if you can. Use Spot Hero to book Flower Show parking in advance since there are deals specific for the show.
What can I expect at the Philadelphia Flower Show?
The Flower Show is huge. Expect LOTS of walking + lines. We attended on Saturday opening day + thousands of people were there so expect crowds especially on the weekend. Once you are there you will see breathtakingly beautiful displays, plants you have only dreamed of, endless shopping, photo ops + more.
The 2025 theme for the Flower Show is Gardens of Tomorrow I am super excited to see this year's displays.
Tip: Get there for opening at 10AM. Wear comfortable shoes. Eat before you go. Figure out your MUST lists including what you want to see + vendors you want to shop.
Can I bring kids to the Philadelphia Flower Show?
Yes! I've been bringing my daughter since she was 3 1/2 + she LOVED it. We went straight to the Butterfly Live Exhibit where you enter a room with thousands of different species of butterflies + you are given a q-tip with sugar water to feed them. We were there for almost TWO hours. It was my favorite part of the entire day. Butterflies were landing on us, flying around + feeding right in our hands. It was an experience for kids + adults. There is also an activity area for kids, crafts + more. The Flower Show itself is a sight to see with the beautiful displays, lights + music. It is a fun weekend family friendly activity in Philly.
Tip: Strollers are allowed. Bring snacks + water bottles to refill at stations. It can turn into a long day. We were there from 10AM - 4PM!
What to buy?
Anything + everything your plant + flower obsessed heart desires + then some. The Market is HUGE. There is everything from gardening gloves to seeds + honey to blown glass flowers. The Flower Show knows their audience + they have curated the vendors accordingly. I tried very hard to control myself, but you could have a field day shopping there if you really wanted to. I went home with a few seed packets, a beautiful bouquet, dahlia bulbs, house plants + bought my daughter her first ever plant to take care of.
Tip: Take inventory of plants, flowers + seeds you currently have before going. Make a shopping + wish list. Research vendors that will be there. Practice self control or attempt to.
The Takeaway
If you are proud plant parent, avid gardener, flower enthusiast or just looking for something fun to do on the weekend head to the Philadelphia Flower Show. It is the perfect event for a cold winter day, being surrounded by beautiful colorful flowers gets you excited for Spring.
