Embracing the New Jersey Winter: The Magic of Ice Skating at Holmdel Park

Bayshore + Beyond

Ice skating on the pond in Holmdel Park part of Monmouth County Parks system

I finally checked off a winter bucket list of mine for years - ice skating on the pond at Holmdel Park. Once I saw that Monmouth County Park systems deemed Holmdel Park safe to skate I had to go!

This is the main reason myself + Luna have our own ice skates. If you are in the market for skate these are the ones I bought Luna + these are mine. We love them!

I never skated on a frozen pond before, I didn't know what to expect. It was super safe + magical. I felt like I was in a movie with kids playing hockey + everyone skating around outside on the pond on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The Monmouth County Park rangers were there making sure everyone was safe, checking the ice + coning off areas that were not safe to skate on. Luna + I had a blast. As long as you have your own ice skate this is the perfect FREE fun outdoor winter activity in New Jersey.

Holmdel Park is just one of other Monmouth County Park locations where you can ice skate when deemed safe. Other locations include Turkey Swamp Park and Shark River Park. Check the Monmouth County Winter Activities site here for updates.

Other fun Winter Activities you can do at Monmouth County Parks include cross-country skiing + snowshoeing at Thompson Park. Also ice fishing at Manasquan Reservoir, Thompson Park, + Turkey Swamp Park.
