🪩Meet Me🪩 As we close out Women’s History Month + the Woman Behind the Business series I’d like to reintroduce myself. Many of you have been here for the beginning but there are lots of newbies.

I’m Nicole, a 38 year old Bayshore local who has been calling the Bayshore home for almost 9 years now. I started this account 5 years ago to share this hidden gem I call home.

I’m a Jersey Girl born + raised + have never left going to college at Rutgers. I am self aware enough to know not many places can handle me 🤣

I’m an only child raising an only child + super close to my mom. I have a small but strong circle of friends that are my framily.

My goal in life is to always have a good time. I strongly believe that you should work to live, not live to work. If I had my way I would cook + garden all day in between going to the beach, exploring + traveling.

This unfortunately is not my full time job but I wish it was that is why every like comment share + save means a lot. I put together things to do, weekend getaway itineraries, gift guides + more in my spare time. Believe me there is so much I would do + share with you if I had the time but as a full time working mom my time is limited.

I am unapologetically blunt + brutally honest. I never stay silent on things that matter. I worked in the political + policy space for almost a decade fighting for environmental + women’s rights. I have a degree in Environmental policy. This is a space where I believe women’s rights are human rights. Climate change is real. Love is love. And everyone deserves a right to a happy + healthy life.

I love this space I created + more importantly the community I created here. I’ve met so many great people from this account + a few have become lifelong friends. I can’t wait to continue to share the Bayshore as it is ever evolving, growing this community + hopefully meeting many of you!

Grab your fellow Knights + head to @medievaltimes_nj for a fun filled time! I was excited to be invited to attend by Medieval Times especially since it was my first time going to Medieval Times + I had a blast! The best part was Luna attending Junior Knights Training.

A free training for kids 5 to 12 where they learn sword fighting techniques, what it means to be a knight + more. Luna got knighted at the end at the group knighting ceremony. She has been reminding us daily she is a knight 🤣

All you have to do is arrive early before the show to attend the free training.

I’ve heard about the food + I was pleasantly surprised with how good the chicken was! We enjoyed our meal with our hands like true to the times.

We really got into cheering on our Red + Yellow knight during the tournament. VICTORY he won! It was such a fun time + would make the perfect activity during Spring break especially if you go early for Junior Knights training!

My name is Jennifer Rositano and I own Rositano Studios, a music school in Middletown.

I opened my business in 2016 after receiving a life altering diagnosis, ultimately making the difficult decision to leave public school teaching to pursue a career that offered me the flexibility I needed.

We offer private voice & piano classes as well as two group classes, Musical Theater & Glee Club. We also provide numerous opportunities to perform from open mic nights, showcases, PVAN and Cabarets.

This past September, a handful of students had the opportunity to perform at the world-famous piano bar, Don’t Tell Mama! You can also catch The Treble Rebelles, our most advanced team perform at Radio City during the holiday season and at Blue Claws games over the summer!

We teach all levels at our studio, from beginners who just want to have fun to more advanced students who want to sing professionally. Currently, we have 3 students prepping for their upcoming Musical Theater college auditions!

The benefits of music education are immense and highly beneficial to students. Music positively impacts a child’s academic performance, assists in developing social skills, and provides an outlet for creativity that is crucial to a child’s development. It is important to us that we provide a fun, nurturing and engaging environment in which all our students can flourish, no matter the skill level or goals.

At Shay’s you can choose from prime ribs, New York strip, filet mignon + American wagyu. We got the prime rib steak + it was melt in your mouth + the bread was soft.

Shay’s was not recommended by any of you when I asked where to go for cheesesteaks but I love uncovering hidden gems + I think I did with this spot.

An Instagram influence turned into a reality. I saw a garden arch trellis + fell in love. I sent the Reel to Mike + he made it a reality. Here’s how ⬇️

Rent a $19 truck from Home Depot because the Cattle panel is HUGE + heavy.

Drive truck to Tractor supply + buy two cattle panels 16 feet by 4 feet

Install the arch between two raised beds if you have that or make smaller beds to arch over

Measure the arch + make sure it is even

Position the arch on the bed. Mike had a great idea to enforce the cattle panel to the bed with wood making it more secure.

Then we used 5 foot fence posts to make sure the cattle panels were secure.

We zipped tied the cattle fence to the fence posts + to each other.

Total price to make around $150

That’s it! Stay tuned for the cucumbers, cherry tomatoes + mini pumpkins I plan to grow on the trellis.

After becoming a mom, Ambar noticed that many of the mommy and me classes she went to were all about the babies, and very little about the moms. She remembers leaving classes thinking, “what about me?” So, she created Yoga With Littles classes - Mommy + Me Yoga classes designed with both mothers and little ones in mind.

Babies and toddlers benefit from an early introduction to mindful movement, stretching, and socialization. Mothers benefit from stretching, breathing, and taking time for self care while bonding with their little ones and connecting with other moms in a similar life stage.

Yoga With Littles classes were one of the first mommy and me yoga classes in Monmouth County, serving families in the community since 2018.

Ambar teaches Yoga With Littles classes at various locations throughout the Jersey shore. She also provides life coaching services for mothers who are looking for more personalized support and guidance through the ups and downs of motherhood.

Mama Bird Well Nest’s classes and programs all focus on creating community and instilling confidence in new moms. Ambar always says that being a mom is the “best, hardest thing” she’s ever done. Not in the celebratory mood. I’m pissed. Pissed that women continuously need to fight + protest on a day that we should be celebrated. Pissed that we live in a world where if a woman ever dare to have 14 kids with 4 different men + a questionable drug usage she would be labeled an unfit mother, a disgrace + a whore never dreaming of stepping foot in the Oval Office.

Pissed that women consistently are upheld to higher standards. Constantly judged whether it’s their looks, their choices or their attitudes.

A woman gets told to smile. Gets told she shouldn’t have worn that top. Gets told she shouldn’t show emotion. Gets unsolicited mothering advice. Gets critiqued on her looks. Gets told she doesn’t have a choice over her own body even if she was raped.

Everyday is a constant battle + it’s fucking exhausting. Some women will read this + disagree. To you I say buh bye + under his eye.

I for one have had enough. Enough being told what to do + how to act while men constantly act a fool + are praised.

The only thing there is left to do is keep taking up space, keep speaking out, keep telling people to fuck off, keep advocating for ourselves + others whenever we can + keep supporting each other.

The time is now to shop local women owned businesses who align with your morals + values as often as you can. Be proud of your business + what you built. Shout it from the roof tops we know men do. My daughter, Lydia, died suddenly on Christmas of 2022 from an undetected congenital defect. In May of 2023, I started a nonprofit organization in her memory called Love From Lydia. The mission of Love From Lydia is to support grieving families following the loss of a child.

We have partnered with hospitals to help strengthen the resources that they give parents after a child dies. Our most recent developed program is called COPE (Connecting Our Personal Experiences) and it is designed to connect newly bereaved parents with other bereaved parents that are further out in their loss so that they can help support, guide, and provide hope to others particularly through the early days of their grief.

Additionally, as a licensed clinical social worker, it is my hope to strengthen the knowledge and skill level of local therapists in grief therapy. Every year we offer scholarships to therapists and masters level counseling/social work students for a training certificate in working with grieving families.

In the future, I plan to begin facilitating virtual groups for bereaved parents. I am also working on a training program for first responders to focus on providing trauma informed care when working with grieving families.

My daughter, Lydia, died suddenly on Christmas of 2022 from an undetected congenital defect. In May of 2023, I started a nonprofit organization in her memory called Love From Lydia. The mission of Love From Lydia is to support grieving families following the loss of a child.

We have partnered with hospitals to help strengthen the resources that they give parents after a child dies.
